NDIS Price Guide 2026-27 explained: what changed and how price limits work

What is the NDIS Price Guide?
The NDIS Price Guide sets the maximum amount providers can charge for supports when you are plan-managed or NDIA-managed. It lists 976 current support items, each with a unique item code, unit (like per hour or per day), and a price limit.
The 2026-27 pricing schedule took effect on 24 September 2026. Maximum prices apply only to plan-managed and NDIA-managed participants. If you self-manage, you can negotiate rates directly with providers.
How price limits work
Every NDIS support has a support item code (like 01_011_0107_1_1 for weekday daytime support worker assistance). The price guide shows:
- National price limit: The maximum rate in most of Australia
- Remote price limit: Higher rate for remote areas
- Very remote price limit: Even higher rate for very remote areas
- Unit: How it's charged (per hour, per day, per kilometre, etc.)
- Claiming rules: Whether travel, short-notice cancellation, or non-face-to-face delivery is claimable
Your plan manager (if you have one) makes sure providers only charge up to these limits.
What changed in 2026-27
The Minister's pricing determination for 2026-27 includes rate changes across most support categories. Key changes include:
- Support worker weekday rates adjusted to $73.58/hr (national)
- Therapy rates updated (OT $193.99/hr, physio $183.99/hr, speech pathology $193.99/hr, psychology $252.99/hr)
- Support Coordination Level 2 now $100.14/hr
- Plan management monthly fee $104.45
- Gardening/yard maintenance $59.01/hr and house cleaning $60.10/hr
The NDIA has said that updated claiming guidance documents will be published shortly. Until then, the 2025-26 Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (PAPL) still applies for travel and cancellation rules.
How to read a support item code
NDIS support item codes follow a pattern:
- First 2 digits: Support category (01 = Assistance with Daily Life, 15 = Capacity Building, etc.)
- Next 3 digits: Registration group or service type
- Last 8 digits (if present): Specific conditions like time of day, location, or intensity
Example: 01_011_0107_1_1 = Assistance with Daily Life (01), Assistance with Self-Care (011), Weekday Daytime (0107), Standard intensity (1_1).
National, remote, and very remote rates
The NDIS recognises that delivering supports costs more in remote areas. Most support items have three price limits:
- National: Applies in cities and regional centres
- Remote: Higher rate for areas classified as remote under the Modified Monash Model or similar
- Very remote: Even higher for very remote locations
Your plan manager or the NDIA's systems use your service address to apply the right rate.
Self-managed vs plan-managed vs NDIA-managed
Price limits only apply to plan-managed and NDIA-managed supports. If you self-manage your plan (or that budget category), you can pay providers any amount. However, you're still limited by your total budget.
