Woodbine Inc. is a non-profit organisation that provides accommodation, day services and supported employment programs to people with intellectual disabilities.
Established in 1951 to provide education and accommodation to 14 mentally retarded (now referred to as intellectually disabled) children in the Warracknabeal district, it is now the largest disability service organisation based in Western Victoria, providing a variety of services, including permanent and short term accommodation, social and community participation, day programs, employment and recreational activities for almost 100 clients.
The Hostel facility was officially opened in November 1954. Warracknabeal, a sub-regional centre in the Wimmera / Mallee region of Victoria, became the first country town in Australia to establish, by voluntary efforts, a private home setting for children with disabilities. Over 50 clients now receive accommodation and after hours support across a range facilities in Warracknabeal and Echuca.
