When is travel claimable?
Providers can claim travel for eligible face-to-face supports. The NDIS pricing schedule specifies which support items allow travel claims.
Travel time and distance
Providers can typically claim:
- Travel time: At the support hourly rate or a specified travel rate
- Travel distance: Per kilometre, subject to caps
The exact rules are in the Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (PAPL).
2026-27 claiming guidance pending
Note: The NDIA has said updated claiming guidance for 2026-27 will be published shortly. Until then, the 2025-26 PAPL travel rules still apply. Check the NDIS pricing page for updates.
How travel appears on your invoice
Travel is invoiced as a separate line item using travel-specific support item codes. Your plan manager (if you have one) checks that travel claims are within the allowed limits.
What if I'm charged for travel?
If you're unsure whether travel should be charged:
- Ask your provider to explain the claim
- Check with your plan manager
- Contact the NDIA if you believe the claim is incorrect
